the service institute japan k. k. will do a second and larger international Service Benchmarking Study of service operations in the Japanese and German market. The study will include in the

  • Japanese market: subsidiaries of foreign companies in Japan as well as Japanese companies
  • German market: subsidiaries of foreign companies in Germanyas well asGerman companies

The purpose of the study is to see the readiness of service operations for current and upcoming requirements.

Support from various European Chambers of Commerce in Japan is already secured and support is expected to cover all contacted Chambers of Commerce and Japanese and German Industry Associations. Japanese universities are contacted and support is given and increasing.

The importance of service business is increasing tremendously, therefore, knowledge about service is important for a student who wants to works in R&D, sales, marketing, finance & accounting, or service. Thus, this study is a great chance to learn from a service professional in a real and international business environment.

The study is offered to a team of 3-5 students to identify the situation of service operations and their readiness for current and upcoming requirements in service.Team members can be students of one or more universities.

The students will receive intensive guidance and coaching, introduction into the increasingly important service business, and into the international business world of Tokyo.

All data, results, methods, and tools can be used for a thesis.

Promoting and selling enhancement projects locally and working in an international team on enhancement projects.

 

Required skills:

  • Bachelor or Master degree
  • 5+ years experience in service business (service manager, service consulting) or 5+ years experience in sales management with a strong connection to the service business
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to interact with a diverse group of people
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities/tasks with a strong drive to deliver on tight timelines
  • Proficient with office software such as Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Native level of German (read, write, speak) and  sufficient English language skills to communicate with the international team. Additional languages can be a plus.

 

Desired skills:

  • Understanding of business processes, business process mapping, business process enhancement.  (Internal training on IDEF0 as the mapping/modeling technique will be provided.)
